• Parking space management for urban society

SMARTSOC – Entrepreneurial Case proposal Education of Future ICT Experts Based on SMART Society Needs 2019-1-SK01-KA203-060789

    DESCRIPTION OF THE ENTREPRENEURIAL CASE

    Keywords: Climate, Energy and Mobility

In our region, housing projects, mainly 4 storey apartment constructions were typical because of lowered taxes on building materials and businesses. Urbanization rises traffic in the cities. In our county, Győr-Moson-Sopron the owned car number increased from 140k (2011) to 190k (2018), it is a 35% rising. In Győr, -the county town of Győr-Moson-Sopron- 129k (2011) 125k (2018) people are living, it is a decrease with 3,2%. County-s population is 462k, so Győr has the 27% of the county-s population. The effect of urbanization, and being the administrative center means concentrated traffic and stationary vehicle load. In this case, we will deal with the problem of parking lot usage by commuters (stationary vehicle space).

The problem of seeking for parking lot is one that traditionally the driver has to solve. It consumes time, energy, and proportionally higher mental stress compared to driving with traffic flow. Usual solutions as designated parking lot, and private garage are outdated, and saturated. They inherently means low space utilization and high cost, because you have to buy a garage (nighttime storage), or your employer has to deal with maintain designates parking lot (daytime storage), and it is only used by few people.

Our target audience is the driver on 1+ levels (Check SAE levesl 0-5), our service is based on information gathered from public and non public databases whose consist everyday usage, and exact position of parking lots. Our service essentially is to determine parking lot (options) as close as possible to the destination, eliminating time and energy wasting.

    Questions that need answers

    Technical aspect

    • Make a plan for the system to send data through public and private networks. (VANET, 802.1p WAVE, 5G, etc...)

    • Design the plan of the multi-platform application (frontend) to interact with the consumer. (user interface, phone app, on board app)

Do investigation and research about mathematical methods for estimate parking space, parking lot occupancy.

    • Make a plan about the (backend) software algorithm, what it is doing to provide the quality of service. Input data, output data, computational resources needed.

    • Do a technical risks list: for example delay estimation, causes, effects.

    Business aspect
    • Determine city sizes and types where our services can serve its highest value. What factors are contributing mostly in demand estimation of our case?

    • What services (databases, governmental, legal things) we have to use and pay for, in order to start our enterprise effectively?

    • How you get the private data about the car owner’s time to spend on his destination (parking space occupancy time)?

    • How you protect the mass data gathered?

    • Try to not use “outsourcing”. Determine tasks which only possible to do with to

      outsourcing.

    • Look after EU or governmental subsidies, start-up fundings, and their requirement

      needs.

    Social aspect
    • What impact would mean if there was not vehicular automation? (https://ec.europa.eu/transport/themes/its/road/action_plan_en)

    • Make a comparation between traditional “parking lot situation” and the one our case will provide.

    • Gather viewpoints for determine what is green, smart city. (Parks, alternative transportation solution.)

    • Investigate the societal effects of using shared automated vehicles. (example source:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325199772_Shared_Autonomous_Vehicl es_Potentials_for_a_Sustainable_Mobility_and_Risks_of_Unintended_Effects)

    • Make ideas connected with your startup case, and do surveys about them on mass media, how the people (from different generations, cultures) respond for one of them.
